I have no quarrel with any of the particulars of your article, and I have, literally, just finished an essay about motivations and interpreting those of others. Short version: It's a total Cluster F**k. There is one crucial fact that ALL articles in the vein of this one leave out. Up until about 10K-20K years ago, our ENTIRE SPECIES lived in the ways that you and so many others, describe. Not mentioning that crucial fact all too often winds up turning what is otherwise an excellent piece of writing into a transmitter, no matter how inadvertent, of the 'noble savage' myth.
Very courageously written, Counter. The ending was especially powerful as more are beginning to see that this house of cards is coming down.
